Nature has beautiful surprises to offer all year long, but a fall trip to the Témiscamingue is such a must-see, for the amazing hikes and the tourist interests and attractions this territory has to offer. For your greatest fun, here is a five stop itinerary for a trip in Témiscamingue that will do you good.
Opémican’s National Park in Fall
Established in 2018, this vast national park can be divided into four sections, with their own distinct entry points. I do mention it because it played a trick on me on my first visit. Thus, it is possible to access the Parc National d’Opémican via the reception station in Laniel, via the Pointe-Opémican’s station which is located a few kilometers away from Temiscaming (town), via the Lac White reception station or the one at the Île aux fraises (Strawberries Island).

For a hike besides the water where we can bring Fido along and/or push a stroller, I recommend the Pointe-d’Opémican and the des Estacades trail. This 3.6 km long trail is accessible to everyone. Please note that there is another trail accessible to everyone: des Grandes-Chutes trail, in the Kipawa area.
Alternatively, there are trails for outdoor lovers of all levels. Also, you can rent a watercraft for a water ride. The Ready-to-Camp accommodations are available until October 9th. Such an amazing idea to go camping the cozy way in the Fall. If the nights are on the cooler side, either cuddle with your loved ones or bring a spare blanket.
La Bannik
La Bannik is a must of the Témiscamingue, and even of the whole administrative area itself. Whether you choose its camping settlements, the rustic cabins, the cozy cottages or even their new rooms, it feels good to stay at La Bannik. Moreover, the new rooms offer an undeniable comfort, with a view on the immense Lake Temiskaming.

This cocoon is ideal for solo trips or lovers’ getaways. Also, you can eat onsite at the new Bistro Clau Clau. La Bannik offers accommodations all year round. All you have to decide is which ambiance you wish to experience and what activities you wish to enjoy.
Les Chocolats Martine, a must-see stop in Témiscamingue
On weekdays, a chocolatier and a baker, both seasoned professionals, create chocolate delights for the luckier ones who will stop by Ville-Marie. Les Chocolats Martine’s store offers a wide choice of artisan chocolates and pastries, obviously, but also a good range of fine cheeses, accessories and local products.
It’s also possible to stay onsite, at the Suites de la Chocolaterie, which face the breathtaking Lake Temiskaming. It would be hard to be more bucolic than that.

The Fall harvests at the Ferme chez Lyne and Sylvain
The family farm and vegetable gardens of Lyne and Sylvain produce a large variety of vegetables all throughout the Summer season. Moreover, the harvest season also means squashes and pumpkins self-picking time. During two consecutive weeks, at the beginning of October, volunteers mobilize towards the farm to allow visitors to enjoy the last days of good weather in their country setting.

While you pack up squashes for canning, it’s also the ideal occasion to prepare for the colder months with the family. You can shop at the store or in the barn where local craft products and Lyne’s food creations share the spotlight. There is also a small farm gathering together cute animals for everyone’s pleasure. Country ambiance and Fall pleasures guaranteed!

To have tried this itinerary over a two-days period, I can promise you that it was way too cool and way too short to taste all of these pleasures from Témiscamingue. Before you leave, plan another trip in Témiscamingue already. It will be easier to leave this magnificent territory once the trip is over.
Have a great Fall trip in Témiscamingue!
