If France can boast of its Tour, our beautiful region can certainly do the same with the Tour de l\u2019Abitibi Glencore<\/a>, an event that brings together many cyclists from all around the world. For the 54th edition, Abitibi-T\u00e9miscamingue will have the pleasure of hosting around 150 riders in the Junior Men category. From July 15 to 21, 2024, they will be welcomed in Val-d\u2019Or.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tour de l\u2019Abitibi Glencore<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Male athletes will compete on regional roads, navigating various courses designed for them while demonstrating strength and endurance, speeding along and employing strategies. What’s on the menu? The Abitibi Sprint Challenge, road races, urban circuit races, and individual time trials. The whole event spans 700 kilometers and is divided into several stages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, spectators will have the chance to cheer on these top-level athletes throughout the races and in all participating localities. Whether for the start or finish, at some point, enthusiasts can move to the Val-d\u2019Or City Hall, the Senneterre City Hall, the C\u00e9gep de Rouyn-Noranda, the Amos Cathedral, the Cit\u00e9 de l’Or in Val-d\u2019Or, or the Malartic Mineralogical Museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tour de l\u2019Abitibi Glencore, a Unique Sporting Competition<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The international UCI Junior Nations’ Cup circuit (Union Cycliste Internationale) includes events such as the Tour de l\u2019Abitibi. For this organization, which sanctions our sporting event, the unique nature of the Tour de l\u2019Abitibi lies in the fact that it is the only event of its kind held in America. Indeed, this is very attractive for riders from elsewhere!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just like the Tour de France, Junior Men cyclists in the Tour de l\u2019Abitibi will compete all week to win points and victories. Thus, each day, the leaders will earn the honor of wearing one of the following four jerseys: brown (overall time classification), orange (overall points classification), blue (first-year junior overall classification), and polka dot (mountain grand prix leader).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Be front and center to witness the riders’ progress on the podiums and discover the recipients of these highly coveted colors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Giving Way to the Next Generation with the Tour de la Rel\u00e8ve Promutuel Assurance Bor\u00e9ale<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Finally, on July 20 and 21, more than 170 young cyclists from the region, boys and girls aged 6 to 16, will officially compete on the Tour de l\u2019Abitibi circuits in Val-d\u2019Or. This is part of the Tour de la Rel\u00e8ve Promutuel Assurance Bor\u00e9ale, which will be in its 24th edition. This is how Bibitte, Atome, Pee-Wee, Minime, and Cadet<\/em> will launch themselves into this stage competition, which is part of the Quebec Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, come in large numbers to watch at one or another of the finish lines to witness the medal and jersey presentations during the end-of-race ceremonial ceremonies!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
