The latter was specifically in charge of the promotional aspect of the contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This adventure was in fact an IMPRESSIVE snowmobile excursion of over 1,500&nbsp;km in 5 days across two vast regions renowned for the exceptional quality of their trails. The draw, carried out by John Arkwright of Supertrax International, took place on January 22, which gave our winners 1 month to get ready.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, on Saturday, February 22, I had the pleasure of welcoming Michelle and John in one of the superb spa-equipped cottages of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abitibi-temiscamingue-tourism.org\/members\/la-bannik\">La Bannik<\/a> in Duhamel-Ouest, &nbsp;T\u00e9miscamingue. We had prepared a remarkable welcome cocktail for them. We wound our way across dense mysterious forests and through cities with their top-notch services. \u00a0We were lucky, because this year, Mother Nature sent us a lot of snow. The conditions were excellent and the panoramas awe-inspiring. The scene was set for a remarkable experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Discovering Local Flavors: A Gourmet Stop in Rouyn-Noranda<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>On Sunday, after\u00a0 stopping for lunch at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abitibi-temiscamingue-tourism.org\/membres\/pizze\">Pizz\u00e9<\/a> in Rouyn-Noranda, we left for \u00a0l\u2019<a href=\"https:\/\/abitibi-temiscamingue.org\/en\/accomodations\/amosphere-complexe-hotelier\/\">Amosph\u00e8re Complexe h\u00f4telier<\/a> in Amos for a tasting of micro-brewery beers and local cheeses at the utmost delight of our American friends who discovered or regional flavours!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure data-wp-context=\"{&quot;imageId&quot;:&quot;6a3285f4c4b2f&quot;}\" data-wp-interactive=\"core\/image\" class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter wp-lightbox-container\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-wp-class--hide=\"state.isContentHidden\" data-wp-class--show=\"state.isContentVisible\" data-wp-init=\"callbacks.setButtonStyles\" data-wp-on-async--click=\"actions.showLightbox\" data-wp-on-async--load=\"callbacks.setButtonStyles\" data-wp-on-async-window--resize=\"callbacks.setButtonStyles\" src=\"https:\/\/abitibi-temiscamingue.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Amosph\u00e8re_AT.jpg\" alt=\"Amosph\u00e8re_AT\"\/><button\n\t\t\tclass=\"lightbox-trigger\"\n\t\t\ttype=\"button\"\n\t\t\taria-haspopup=\"dialog\"\n\t\t\taria-label=\"Enlarge\"\n\t\t\tdata-wp-init=\"callbacks.initTriggerButton\"\n\t\t\tdata-wp-on-async--click=\"actions.showLightbox\"\n\t\t\tdata-wp-style--right=\"state.imageButtonRight\"\n\t\t\tdata-wp-style--top=\"state.imageButtonTop\"\n\t\t>\n\t\t\t<svg xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" width=\"12\" height=\"12\" fill=\"none\" viewBox=\"0 0 12 12\">\n\t\t\t\t<path fill=\"#fff\" d=\"M2 0a2 2 0 0 0-2 2v2h1.5V2a.5.5 0 0 1 .5-.5h2V0H2Zm2 10.5H2a.5.5 0 0 1-.5-.5V8H0v2a2 2 0 0 0 2 2h2v-1.5ZM8 12v-1.5h2a.5.5 0 0 0 .5-.5V8H12v2a2 2 0 0 1-2 2H8Zm2-12a2 2 0 0 1 2 2v2h-1.5V2a.5.5 0 0 0-.5-.5H8V0h2Z\" \/>\n\t\t\t<\/svg>\n\t\t<\/button><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Amosph\u00e8re Complexe h\u00f4telier<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:41px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>On the following day we left Amos destination Matagami for lunch, and then on to Lebel-sur-Qu\u00e9villon for a well-deserved night\u2019s rest\u2026 That day was cold but nothing to stop our two lucky participants from having fun galore!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tuesday, the third day of The Big White Tour, we travelled 235\u00a0km to arrive in Ouj\u00e9-Bougoumou, a superb Cree reserve where our winners were able to visit the\u00a0Cree Cultural Institute museum; a perfect way for our American friends to discover the native culture of Northern Quebec.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Gourmet Evening with Chef Yves Moreau in Val-d\u2019Or<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Wednesday, the longest ride of the stay, we travelled over 400\u00a0km across splendid trails and arrived in the evening around 7:30 p.m. at the <a href=\"https:\/\/abitibi-temiscamingue.org\/en\/accomodations\/hotel-forestel\/\">H\u00f4tel Forestel<\/a> in Val-d&#8217;Or where we had the pleasure of enjoying a buffet meal prepared with regional products by the internationally famous chef Yves Moreau. The expression \u00ab\u00a0and after the effort, relaxation\u00a0\u00bb was never so well illustrated and Michelle and John literally feasted!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Final Leg of the Adventure: The Rapide-Sept Trail by Snowmobile<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally Thursday, was the last day we really counted on to thoroughly take advantage of our trip! We left Val-d\u2019Or by the Rapide-Sept trail which allowed us to saddleback, on snowmobile, the imposing dam that bears the same name. In the mid-afternoon, we reached our departure point and took advantage of the end of the day to relax with, among other things, a massage for Michelle and John in order to relieve the muscle pains of the last few days\u2026and to chat about our fine adventure over a thirst-quenching beer and then a good meal!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Participants\u2019 Verdict: An Unforgettable Experience in Abitibi-T\u00e9miscamingue<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It was Michelle\u2019s and John\u2019s first visit in Abitibi-T\u00e9miscamingue and James Bay. Their reaction towards our trails was irrevocable: &#8220;this has nothing to do with what we have at home, we would never be able to travel such great distances in the same &nbsp;unique conditions, our trails are definitely busier with traffic and much less groomed!&#8221;. Their second conclusion was concerning the beauty of the Nordic landscape, so exotic for them! They saw the publicity in the magazine, took part in the contest and planned (knowing that they were not sure of winning) their annual snowmobile expedition as described on the contest Web site, while respecting the daily distances and stopping at the suggested accommodations! They were overjoyed about their adventure!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, the experience was true magic for all those concerned, whether for the winners or our team of news reporters or our tourism team. Michelle and John, on their departure, were already talking about coming back next winter with their family and friends! For my part, it was a genuine pleasure! It is so pleasing and enhancive to present the region when you are proud of it!
